9 Ways to be a Good Christian Neighbor

1. Find your identity in Christ alone.

Not in your possessions, not in having as much, or more than, your neighbors. Col. 3:1-4 If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things...above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on the things...above, not on things... on earth. you have died, your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, you ...will appear with him in glory.

2. Pray for opportunities and boldness.

Eph. 6:18-20. Pray at all times in the Spirit...keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and... for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Pride keeps us from boldly identifying ourselves as followers of Christ. We know once they find out they will watch us and see how inconsistent we are. A reminder to trust Jesus.

3. Know and use their name.

Acts 9:32-43. Notice how Peter uses Aeneas and Dorcas names. It's important to know and use people's names.

4. Find common ground.

Start conversation. Ask good questions: how long have you lived here? Tactfully ask about work, school, kids, hobbies, pets, etc.

5. Offer and ask for help.

We like to give help but we don't like to ask. Just recently we had asked two of our neighbors to borrow their Wi-Fi. :-) Titus 3:14 let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.

6. Be present physically and mentally.

Re-do your yard. Go on walks. Mow their lawn. Keep your eyes up and open.

7. Find multiple ways to bless.

Prayer, care, share. Encouraging words, purposeful acts of kindness, Gal. 6:9-10 do not grow weary of doing good, / as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone... especially to those who are of the household of faith.

8. Know and share the Gospel as soon as possible.

To share it you need to know it. When you love Jesus the most you want to introduce others to him. Do it kindly… Trust God to work truth and grace through your life as the Gospel shines brightly through you. Speak and live truth in love to a kindness-starved world. Loving Jesus makes you kind. 1 Peter 3:15 in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.

9. Live your faith and speak it often.

How?

A. Express gratitude to God. Thank Him.

B. Be honest about your life. They already know more about you than you realize. And they haven't moved away from you yet. Let them get to know the real you. Opportunity to share how God HAS changed, and IS changing, your life.

C. Offer to pray.

D. Remind of truth. (God knows and cares, etc)

E. Share things you read in the Bible.

Find your identity in Christ alone. Pray for opportunities and boldness. Know and use their name. Find common ground. Offer and ask for help. Be present physically and mentally. Find multiple ways to bless. Know and share the Gospel as soon as possible. Live your faith and speak it often.

YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT GOD WILL DO.
