All Things New

"If anyone is in Christ they are a new creation, the old has passed away, the new has come." 2 Cor. 5:17

Most Christians I know feel anything but new. More like a beater car with a few dents in fender, peeling paint and faded upholstery. They feel more like a total wreck.

It's a good thing it's not based on feelings, but facts. The fact is, God takes a person lost in Adam and dead in sin and makes them alive in Christ. It is a work accomplished by God's grace and appropriated by faith. We don't initiate it, we cooperate with it.

Jesus makes you new. He saves your soul from destruction. He renews your mind. He transforms your life. He transfers you from the domain of darkness into His marvelous light. He makes you who were a child of hell into a citizen of heaven. You become an ambassador for Christ. A communicator, a transponder, a representative, of the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

Those in this new life are exhorted to live no longer in their old ways but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. We are to put on a heart of compassion and kindness and more a la Colossians chapter 3.

Christ's Resurrection brings new life and it affects you and others. The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to change the people God chooses. Like a rock entering a pond, the ripple effects are seen; and in God's case, they are endless.

All praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. I have been saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in Scripture alone, for God's glory alone.

Jesus loves you!
