God’s Truth for Trying Times - 3/10/22

READ: 1 Peter 1:1-2

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you. [1 Peter 1:1-2 ESV]

CONSIDER: The Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit are all intricately involved in our salvation. The foreknowledge of the Father is that he decreed before the foundation of the world in his sovereign grace to elect some to eternal life. The sanctification of the Holy Spirit happens as he uses the word of God to both save and sanctify all of the elect. We then are enabled to obey Jesus Christ and be continually cleansed by his blood.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
