God’s Truth for Trying Times - 4/19/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Titus 3:3-7

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:3-7)

CONSIDER: These verses are talking about believers. And looking back to the pre-salvation condition of so many. It speaks in a general way of the specific things that each one of us were caught up in. when you get a verse for, things completely changed, because it says that the goodness and love and kindness of God appeared. Jesus Christ appeared in the flash. And He saves us by His mercy. Where He holds back the just wrath against our sin. By regeneration, giving us a new life. Indwelling us with the Holy Spirit. Noticed that it says that we have the Holy Spirit richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Notice that it says we have been justified, made right with God through faith in Christ, by His grace. And notice also that we are heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Our eternity is secure, we have God’s Word on it, therefore we have great assurance.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY:‬‬ Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
