God’s Truth for Trying Times - 4/24/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Hebrews 4:9-13

““So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews‬ ‭4:9-13‬)

CONSIDER: God gives His people eternal rest, where we rest in Christ’s finished work on the cross. One of the primary ways you know that you are resting in Christ’s work is obedience. Specifically, obedience to the Word of God that cuts to the heart of our thoughts and intentions. We are completely known by God and our true self is exposed, and we must give an account of ourselves to Him.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY:‬‬ Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
