God’s Truth for Trying Times - 4/30/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Matthew 11:25-30

“At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."” (Matthew‬ ‭11:25-30‬)

CONSIDER: Jesus is inviting all people recognize their need for Him to come to Him. All who are laboring so hard to make it through life and are heavy laden with the burden of sins. Jesus gives rest. There is a Sabbath rest for the people of God. Where we rest from our works and rest in Christ's finished work at the cross. Rest of soul is something that not many people have. It is only possible through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ crucified, present, and returning. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ today and you will be saved. God loved the world so much that He sent His son to be the sacrifice for our sins. All who believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY:‬‬ Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
