God’s Truth for Trying Times - 6/15/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all mankind by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved--so as always to fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them at last! [1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 ESV] 

CONSIDER: Those who are working against the gospel are opposing mankind! Trying to keep people from hearing and believing the word of God, hindering God's servants from speaking the truth. This is one of the battles raging right now in our society. There is a hateful insistence upon shutting Christian down from speaking the gospel. This is why we must double down in our efforts. We are Christ's witnesses. As we bring his word, we must let it dwell richly within us, and then give it out freely and faithfully to others.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
