God’s Truth for Trying Times - 8/21/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: James 3:2-3

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. [James 3:2-3 ESV]

CONSIDER: We are all fallen humans and although those redeemed by the blood of Christ are new creations and forgiven, we still sin. We are to be very careful with our words and when we are, it shows we are maturing as believers.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
