God’s Truth for Trying Times - 1/3/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 70

 "Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me! Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! Let them turn back because of their shame who say, "Aha, Aha!" May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, "God is great!" But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay!" (Psalm 70:1-5 ESV)

CONSIDER: The Psalmist has a consistent theme of dependence on the Lord who sustains his life. He teaches us to go to God for everything we need, trusting him to deliver us. This is in the real issues of life. In everything declare that God is great that you are needy. He will help you and he will not delay.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
