God’s Truth for Trying Times - 10/16/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 John 4:2-3

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. [1 John 4:2-3 ESV] 

CONSIDER: God has made it very simple for us to know if something or someone is from him or not, do they confess that Jesus Christ is God the Son and that he came in the flesh to die for sinful man and be raised from the dead. Do they hold to the gospel of the grace of God in Christ as seen in the Bible? That's how you know.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
