God’s Truth for Trying Times - 11/5/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 2 John 1:8-9

“Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”

CONSIDER: Sanctification of a believer is contingent upon God continuing believers in the faith and believers continuing in the faith. God brings progress into your life and you are commanded here to not lose the progress that has been made. You must abide in the teaching of Christ, which gives assurance that you are in Christ.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
