God’s Truth for Trying Times - 12/24/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Timothy 5:19-20

Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses. As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. [1 Timothy 5:19-20 ESV]

CONSIDER: Church must be very careful about accusations against elders, and must follow the biblical mandates for dealing with issues in a godly way. If there is a leader that persists in sin it is to be dealt with appropriately so that others would also be fearful of displeasing God in such a way.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
