God’s Truth for Trying Times - 2/3/22

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Ephesians 4:7-10 

But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it says, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (In saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) [Ephesians 4:7-10 ESV]

CONSIDER: Christ saves sovereignly and according to his grace we are gifted to serve him. He conquered death and hell and all evil and proclaimed his victory over all. He paid the price for every sin we have committed or ever will commit and he gave himself as our substitutionary sacrifice and now reigns above all at the right hand of the throne of God. He is in the place of supreme authority and power.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
