God’s Truth for Trying Times - 3/23/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 119:169-176

"[Taw] Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word! Let my plea come before you; deliver me according to your word. My lips will pour forth praise, for you teach me your statutes. My tongue will sing of your word, for all your commandments are right. Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your law is my delight. Let my soul live and praise you, and let your rules help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments." [Psa 119:169-176 ESV] 

CONSIDER: It is good when we cry out to God to give us understanding of his word and to deliver us as he has promised. God is the one that teaches us and our hearts sing for joy because of his goodness. He makes it really clear that God's word is the source of his joy and that even though he had wandered away from God he knows that God seeks after him and helps him remember his word.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
