God’s Truth for Trying Times - 3/4/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 119:17-24

"[Gimel] Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me! My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times. You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments. Take away from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies. Even though princes sit plotting against me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors." [Psa 119:17-24 ESV]

CONSIDER: Verse 18 is one of the most wonderful prayers that could ever be prayed by a believer. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your word. That is our prayer.  We want our souls consumed with longing after God and his ways and his word. Our delight must be in him and his word that counsels us.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
