God’s Truth for Trying Times - 4/4/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 131

"O LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore." [Psa 131:1-3 ESV] 

CONSIDER: The resurrection power of God anchors our souls. We rest in his amazing grace. We are kept forever by the Lord of the universe. Therefore, we are humble in heart, we depend on him, we praise the glory of his grace in Christ. We believe everything he has said. And we rest our souls as he gives us rest. This is the quiet trust of the redeemed. 

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
