God’s Truth for Trying Times - 5/16/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 2 Corinthians 1:6-7

“If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:6-7‬)

CONSIDER: Paul is using the idea of comfort as a picture of the entire Christian life. Justification, sanctification, glorification, all part of the comfort that the consolation of Israel, Jesus Christ the righteous one, gives to all He saves. The Christian life is one of patient endurance. And our hope is immovable. It is fixed on the anchor of Christ.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY:‬‬ Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
