God’s Truth for Trying Times - 6/16/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20

But since we were torn away from you, brothers, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face, because we wanted to come to you--I, Paul, again and again--but Satan hindered us. For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy. [1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 ESV] 

CONSIDER: What great love amongst believers that they would be one another's glory and joy! They wanted to see each other face-to-face, they wanted to be encouraged by each others faith. God is the one who grants such love. It goes beyond human affinity, and overcomes indifferent depravity. This kind of love only comes from God.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
