God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/1/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. [1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 ESV] 

CONSIDER: In Christ we are safe from the wrath of God. We are destined to obtain salvation. This means that God has fixed that reality and it is unchangeable. These are the kinds of things that truly encourage and build fellow believers up. Keep reminding each other of this sweet gospel truth.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
