God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/26/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:11-13‬ ‭‬‬

“The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.”

‭‭(2 Timothy‬ ‭2:11-13‬)

CONSIDER: God‘s word is fully trustworthy, and whenever you see that something is a trustworthy statement in Scripture, it means that everyone should except it absolutely. This was the content of a early Christian him. Assurance that we were crucified with Christ, meaning that Christ died in our place for our sins. Assurance that we live with him because he rose from the dead and lives forever. Assurance that if we endure - as he gives us strength - we will be with him forever. But also that if we deny him he will never deny himself. This is our hope, that God is faithful, even when we are not. How gracious and merciful our loving Heavenly Father is.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
