God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/9/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ:‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:1-5‬ ‭‬‬

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:1-5‬)

CONSIDER: We are made right with God through faith in Christ, and therefore there is no enmity between us and God because God broke down the dividing wall of hostility. We have peace with God, perfect and eternal. We rejoice in hope of God's glory to be revealed in the future, but right now we start with our sufferings and realize that God brings about good through what we consider to be bad. We have God's love poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. This anchors us in hope that never will put us to shame.
