God’s Truth for Trying Times - 8/11/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: James 2:10-11

For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. [James 2:10-11 ESV]

CONSIDER: We cannot pick and choose what we will or will not obey in God's word. We are to be doers of everything good that God says to do. We do not want to overstep our bounds and transgress God's perfect design. We also must realize that we cannot keep covenant with God, he is the one that keeps covenant with us and it is because he is faithful that we are preserved. Which makes us want to please him.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
