God’s Truth for Trying Times - 8/19/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: James 2:26

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. [James 2:26 ESV]

CONSIDER: James uses a perfect example, that your body separated from your spirit means that you are dead. And faith is inextricably linked with works. True faith will produce good works. Just as a corpse cannot walk around pretending to be alive, those who are truly saved will be recognized as being spiritually alive because they will be living a life that is pleasing to God and displays the glory of the gospel.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
