God’s Truth for Trying Times - 2/4/22

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Ephesians 4:11-14 

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. [Ephesians 4:11-14 ESV]

CONSIDER: Christ gave gifts to his church In the form of leaders. The church was built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, never to be built again. And now evangelists and pastor-teachers lead the church and preach the word and equip believers to do the work of ministry. This is all in the process of God building his body and bringing us to maturity, not swayed by false teaching but holding firmly to the word of God.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
