Sermon Application Questions:
- Everyone needs community. Based on v. 7, when is it not good to be alone and when is it good to be alone? (See Gen. 2:18; Matt. 6; 1 Thess. 5:12-22)
- Based on vv. 9–11, What are the benefits of godly companionship? How do you leave yourself unprotected if you do not have it?
- Based on v. 12, Where does the strength of godly community come from? How is it proven? How is it fostered? (Peruse Ephesians, Philippians, 1 Thessalonians)
- How is the Trinity a perfect example of community? God the Father planned redemption. God the Son secured it. God the Spirit works it out. They were all in agreement in the plan.
- How does God use His family, Christ’s body, the Church, to support and anchor the Church as the pillar and support of the truth? (1 Tim. 3:14-16)
- How was Christ’s solitary sacrifice at the cross a community-forming sacrifice? (See Ephesians 2)
