Remember God Before It’s Too Late
Speaker: Mike Sciarra Series: Living in Light of Dying Topic: Remember God Before It’s Too Late Passage: Ecclesiastes 12:2–8
Sermon Application Questions
- How do you “remember your Creator” (Job 36:24–26; Ps. 42:4–8; 103:1-5; 2 Tim. 2:8; 1 Cor. 11:23–28)? “In your youth” seems to indicate it is the time of decision and action because you have the motivation and the strength. What if you are older and have not been living like this? (Acts 16:31)
- We are instructed to remember God “now” (12:1), “before the evil days come” (12:1), “before” our mind and body deteriorates (12:2-5), and “before” death comes (12:6-7). What does this suggest about the finality of death and reality of judgment?
- How do the Preacher’s reflections on old age and death (12:1–8) encourage you to follow Jesus? What are the telltale signs that you are remembering God? For the relatively young, how can you redeem the time? For the relatively older, will you acknowledge Christ and serve Him wholeheartedly?
- No matter your age, if you are a believer you can worship, obey, and serve God. If you are not a believer you must repent and believe.
- How do these verses drive you to live worshipping and serving Jesus? What unfinished business does this drive you to resolve to take care of? What sin do you need to repent of and apologize for? Who do you need to forgive? Make up with? Reconcile with? What Gospel seeds can you plant? Who can you build up and bless?
