Be Merciful!

August 1, 2021 Speaker: Mike Sciarra Series: Jude: Contending in a Contentious World

Topic: Be Merciful! Passage: Jude 1:22–23

Sermon Application Questions:

  1. How can Grace Church be a merciful place for those who struggle with doubts about their faith? What doubts have you struggled with and how did the Word of God and the people of God help you? (Matt. 5:7; 1 Thess. 5:14)
  2. What might it look like to have a conversation with someone doubting, someone in grave spiritual danger, or someone diametrically opposed to Gospel truth? How might you give comfort, relationally connect, and gently yet firmly correct wrong thinking? (Gal. 6:1; James 5:19-20)
  3. What does it look like to have mercy on someone even while being cautious and careful not to be defiled by their error? How can you stay connected in relationship while not condemning people, or condoning or celebrating their sin? (1    Cor. 15:33)
  4. How can you courageously direct people to Christ, reflect God’s glory, connect relationally, and correct error?
  5. When is it appropriate to disassociate with professing believers who persist in unbiblical beliefs or ungodly behaviors? (1 Cor. 5:9-11; 2 Thess. 3:14; Rev. 3:4, 18)
