What Love Does, and Doesn’t, Do

January 23, 2022 Speaker: Mike Sciarra Series: Beloved

Topic: What Love Does, and Doesn’t, Do Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:14–15

Sermon Application Questions:
  1. Paul gave the Thessalonians a similar admonition about idleness in his second letter. Read 2 Thessalonians 3:6–15. How should we treat a Christian brother or sister who is idle?
  2. Read Matthew 5:43–48, Romans 12:9–21, and 1 Peter 3:8–12. List some of the practical ways we can love others.
  3. Think of some Scriptures that might encourage the timid. Absorb them into your own heart and then also find someone to share them with.
  4. What does the Bible say about helping the weak? What helps you when you were weak? Who might you help?
  5. To retaliate is the natural reaction of unregenerate people. How can Christians guard against reacting in a vindictive and retaliatory way? How did Paul respond when he was persecuted?
  6. Why is it important to be ‘patient with everyone’?
  7. Which is easier for you, to do good towards fellow believers or towards unbelievers? Why do you think is that so? What does that tell you about yourself? What can you learn from it?
