Acknowledging the Truth on the Pathway to Grace
Series: James: Steadfast Topic: Prayer Passage: James 4:1–5
- Discuss the following: We are prone to sin, and only God‘s grace can rescue us.
- James wants us to acknowledge the truth about uncontrolled passions, resulting in demolished relationships (vv1-2) and unanswered prayer resulting from distance from God (vv3-4)
- Verse 5 has six different plausible interpretations, and all of them are true scriptural principles, and while many people disagree. Discuss the truth that our spirit has a propensity to sin.
- God gives more grace. (like John 1:16 talks about “grace for grace” and Paul talks about sin increasing yet grace abounding all the more (Rom. 5:20). Discuss how God’s all-sufficient grace overcomes our sin.
