Dust Is What We Came From

"And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul." Gen. 2: 7 NIV

I hate dust, or at the least I dislike it intensely. It is inert, having no means of propulsion, easily penetrates the tightest of weather-proofed homes, and like some people, just lies around as a nuisance. I've experienced a lot of dust, having been born in the worst year of the mid-south Dust Bowl, 1932. 16 of the over 150 chemical elements found in dirt are present in the human body telling us where we came from. When looking in the mirror, we're looking at what God did with dust. We have value not because of what we were made from, but because God breathed into us His breath of life. The body is temporal; souls are eternal. Rejoice that we are as the Bible teaches both "fearfully and wonderfully made."
