God Is Always On Time

"But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Pet. 3:8, 9 KJV

In this chapter, scoffers were questioning whether Jesus would really come back to earth and bring judgment upon the world. Peter says that this time His judgment will be by fire, not by flood waters. The scoffers reason that nothing seems to have changed in the natural world since creation so why should they believe in a coming cataclysmic destruction of the earth. Peter gives two reasons for the appearance of delay. 1. He says the scoffers reasoning is faulty by stating that God is not bound by time. He measures time differently and is not subject to the sequential passing of moments. 2. He mercifully desires that all should come to repentance. We must warn the scoffers.
