God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/31/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 2 Timothy‬ ‭2:20-21‬ ‭‬‬

“Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”

‭‭(2 Timothy‬ ‭2:20-21‬)

CONSIDER: God’s Household is great. He has made us fit for himself. And he has many providential uses intended for us. Being cleansed from what is dishonorable is a gift granted by God Almighty to those saved, being sanctified, and forever indwelled by the Holy Spirit. We are able to walk in holiness and be useful to God and do his kingdom work.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
