Ignorant (Unintentional) Or Willful Sinning

"And if a person sins unintentionally, (Ignorantly), then he shall bring a female goat in its first year as a sin offering.” Num. 15: 27 KJV

"Ignorance of the Law is no excuse," but the punishment in O.T. times for ignorantly violating a law, one did not know was on the books, was different than knowingly violated God's laws. Unintentional acts of sin were nonetheless sin and required a sacrificial atonement. Before the Law was given and written down, any Israelite would suffer the consequences for his or her sin, but were technically not in violation of the Law or subject to its penalty. Those knowing the Law and yet purposely disobeying it received the harsher punishment. We both know and are subject to God's truth. Remember, joy is the fruit of an obedient life.
