The Challenging "Henceforth"

"And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live for themselves, but unto Him who died for them, and rose again." 2 Cor. 5:15

Aren't you thrilled to be among the whosoever throng that Jesus died for. I am still amazed that when Jesus died on the cross He died for me. While we were yet unborn, Christ died for all our yet uncommitted sins. Having believed on Him, and as recipients of eternal life, how then should we live? Selfishness and self-indulgence characterize the human condition and are extremely difficult to deny. But that is exactly what we must do. "Henceforth," embraces time and eternity and thus means from the moment we trust Christ as Savior we are to live for Jesus. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead enables us to do that very thing. The hymn says it best, "I'll live for Him Who died for me; how happy then my life shall be."
