The Place Of Peril Or Compromise

"When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of their enemies that I had built the wall, and not a gap was left in it (though at that time I had not set the doors in the gates) Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message, "Come let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were scheming to do me harm!" Neh. 6:1, 2 NIV

Oh, no! Don't go to Ono, for it is a place of peril and possible compromise. The avowed enemies of Nehemiah and the nation of Israel had tried and failed to stop the construction of the wall around Jerusalem. Their last ditch effort (to stop the gates from being set in place) was to deceive him with an invitation to the plain of Ono for a conference. Nehemiah suspected their evil intent to kill him had they opportunity and refused all four invitations. Don't warm your hands by the fire with the enemies of Christ; they can harm you or tempt you to compromise your convictions.
