"Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was led elsewhere,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles." Romans 1:13 KJV

The Bible teaches that "It is not in man that that walketh to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23b KJV). As the Apostle to the Gentiles, Paul frequently desired and even made plans to visit the largely Gentile church at Rome, but God had other plans, and Paul was delayed until now. Wisdom would have us make plans, but write them in pencil, not in ink. Our sovereign God knows the way we should take and writes His plan for us in indelible ink. God's plan for Paul was that he would travel to Rome as a prisoner on a grain ship. At Rome under house arrest he would bear much fruit amongst the Gentile community. Keep fellow believers informed of your plans, but let the Lord direct your steps.
