Realistic Goal: Read through the Bible at least once in 2020!

Is it too late to read through the Bible in 2020? Certainly not! There are Bible reading plans where you can read through the entire Bible in 90 days! I suggest you decide right now to read the Bible through at least once in 2020. I am doing the classic Genesis-Revelation canonical version (straight through the Bible) – just open up your Bible and begin today. Be assured of several things:

  1. God uses the Word to change and transform us. The Word does the work, so let the work of the Word be seen in your life. Start today!
  2. God’s Word is clear and you can understand it if you are a Christian. All who have put their faith in Christ have been born again (regenerated) by the Spirit of God (1 Peter 1:3). We are born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Therefore, the Spirit of God helps us to understand the meaning of the Bible.
  3. Growth in Christ will be evident to fellow believers and encourage them in their faith (1 Timothy 4:6-16).
  4. Your choices and actions don’t make you right with God, but if you have been made right with God through faith in Christ it will show out in your life through your choices and actions.
  5. When you are tempted to quit, don’t. Perseverance is something God gives through trials and temptations. Suffering brings about perseverance, sticking with the faith when the going gets tough. Be assured you need the wisdom and power of the Word in your life. You cannot do the Christian life alone.
  6. You have the triune God dwelling in you and God wants you to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). This happens as you find your greatest delight and joy in God in the Gospel and gaze upon His beauty above all earthly delights.
  7. Remember most of all, God has chosen every believer to be His own. He has given  Himself to you in Christ. Yes, the Almighty Creator and sustainer of the universe, our loving heavenly Father, has been pleased to choose you and save you and He is progressively sanctifying you into the reality of your definite sanctification and ultimate glorification that is assured and guaranteed to you in Christ.

Believers have the best reason to press on to know God as He has revealed Himself in the Word. We have been accepted in Christ, chosen before the foundation of the world, kept for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, being conformed to the image of Christ - God at work to transform us for His glory as we serve Him and worship Him with every ounce of our being, in the everyday situations of life.
