God’s Truth for Trying Times - 10/2/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 John 2:28-29 

And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him. [1 John 2:28-29 ESV]

CONSIDER: Abiding in Christ means remaining in him and continuing in him. Those who abide in Christ will not shrink in shame at his appearing because they will receive an abundant welcome into his kingdom and glory. If you practice the truth you show evidence of being regenerated by God's Spirit.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
