God’s Truth for Trying Times - 11/13/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 3 John 1:13-15

“I had much to write to you, but I would rather not write with pen and ink. I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends, each by name.”

CONSIDER: This is such a loving reminder of in-person fellowship, sharing our lives and the word of God with one another. Desiring to talk to dear beloved believers. Blessing them with peace. Sending greetings from friends. Remembering everyone by name. Knowing each other's names is important, it puts value on the relationship, it suggests closeness and affection and friendship. God binds our hearts together in the gospel.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
