God’s Truth for Trying Times - 11/5/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: ‬Psalm 12

“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.”
‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭13:1-6‬)

CONSIDER: The Psalmist cries out to God once again in the midst of trouble, longing for better times. He knows that the Lord is his refuge and the salvation of the Lord is what causes him to rejoice and sing. It is a great truth to know that God deals bountifully and generously and kindly by grace with his chosen people.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
