God’s Truth for Trying Times - 12/18/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Timothy 5:7-8

Command these things as well, so that they may be without reproach. But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. [1 Timothy 5:7-8 ESV]

CONSIDER: Timothy was to authoritatively proclaim these truths so that people would have a clear conscience before God and man. The sobering truth is that people who,refuse to,care for their relatives and their household are committing sin against God and man and denying the truth of the gospel by not obeying the Word of God.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY: Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
