God’s Truth for Trying Times - 3/20/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 119:145-152

"[Qoph] With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O LORD! I will keep your statutes. I call to you; save me, that I may observe your testimonies. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words. My eyes are awake before the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promise. Hear my voice according to your steadfast love; O LORD, according to your justice give me life. They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose; they are far from your law. But you are near, O LORD, and all your commandments are true. Long have I known from your testimonies that you have founded them forever." [Psa 119:145-152 ESV]

CONSIDER: This paragraph portrays a person that is so wrapped up in God's word that they are thinking about it day and night. And they are crying out to God to honor his word and impressing it upon hearts even more. It is a picture of a person who during their every waking hour and even in the night time is reminded of the holiness of God's word. This is also a person who is going through trouble, as every person does, and the answer is that God's word lasts forever.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
