God’s Truth for Trying Times - 3/21/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Psalm 119:153-160

"[Resh] Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law. Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise! Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. Great is your mercy, O LORD; give me life according to your rules. Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, but I do not swerve from your testimonies. I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands. Consider how I love your precepts! Give me life according to your steadfast love. The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever." [Psa 119:153-160 ESV]

CONSIDER: Here is a picture of a person who loves God and his word so much, and is processing it in the pain and the hard times of life. There are plenty of people who completely go against God's word. Yet this person is fully engulfed with following the Lord and knowing that he is good and right and true and everything he says lasts forever.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
