God’s Truth for Trying Times - 5/24/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: Hebrews 12:11

“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭12:11‬)

CONSIDER: Discipline never feels good. But it has a good purpose. God disciplines every Christian so we would share His holiness. He wants to bear fruit in our lives, the fruit of righteousness that is peaceful. That means we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ and we will make peace with others because of the peace we have in Christ. We are even to discipline ourselves for godliness. Believing the truth about our identity in Christ, and living the truth in our hearts, homes, household of God, and to the end of the earth.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?

PRAY:‬‬ Pray these verses to God as a prayer. Pour out your heart in praise to God. Pray for others. Present needs to Him.
