God’s Truth for Trying Times - 6/11/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 Thessalonians 2:5-6

For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed--God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, though we could have made demands as apostles of Christ. [1 Thessalonians 2:5-6 ESV] 

CONSIDER: The defense of a true gospel ministry is Christ-centered and glorifying to God. They did not flatter people and they did not seek to be lifted up. They didn't even exercise the rights that they had as apostles. That's a humble example.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
