God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/10/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-17‬

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-17‬)

CONSIDER: Do you notice that Timothy knew God's Word from childhood? That means that his mother, Eunice, who was a Christian, taught him God's Word! So did his grandmother Lois. We read about their faith in 2 Timothy 1:5. If you want to teach your children the Word of God you need to resolve to be a servant of Christ who serves your household with the Word of God and prayer. It must first be resolved to follow the call of God to bring your children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. And to practice the Christian life together, at home, on a daily basis. The two most important worshipful practices: God's Word and prayer. Open up God's Word and read it and heed it and obey it. Then, pray dependently.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
