God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/10/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-8

This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering-- since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. [2 Thessalonians 1:5-8 ESV] 

CONSIDER: God refreshes and relives the hearts of those who are being unjustly afflicted, and repays those who are doing the unjust afflicting. And it all has to do with the second coming of Christ, his promised return with blessing for those who believe and judgment for those who have denied him.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
