God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/13/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-17‬ 

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-17‬)

CONSIDER: When you resolve to be Christ's servant who serves God's Word and prayer to your household, you trust God to use the Word for what it is meant for: teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. First and foremost in your own heart, and also bringing it to bear in the lives of the people in your household. Not in an overbearing way, but in a gentle and kind way that helps them see that the ways of God are best. Prayer goes hand in hand with the Word, as we dependently seek to put the Word into practice in every area of life.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
