God’s Truth for Trying Times - 7/24/20

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!”

CONSIDER: This verse is one of the high points in Scripture. Of course the best thing in life is to remember Jesus Christ risen from the dead. He is a descendent of David, in the line of promised salvation, he is the promised deliverer. The very one who is preached in the gospel. Paul was suffering for the gospel, bound in chains. But praise God the word of God is not changed. It is free and powerful to do exactly what God desires.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
