God’s Truth for Trying Times - 8/12/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: James 2:12-13

So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. [James 2:12-13 ESV]

CONSIDER: Mercy triumphs over judgment. God is merciful and he is also the judge. We must remember that we will be judged. And we must be merciful because anyone who has received mercy in Christ must mercifully help all those who struggle.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
